January 18 - February 29, 1996

Gallery of Living Artists is proud to present Roy Newell-Lifelines: 1955-1995
as its inaugural exhibition for the new year. This exhibition explores the 82-year-old painter's self-imposed aesthetic discipline with line, light, color and texture. The result is an extraordinary exhibition of paintings; that include work originally executed 40 years ago and recently completed.

For the first time, a resume of historical group and solo exhibitions, spanning almost 50 years, reveals Roy Newell's impressive career. He created his earliest works in the company of close friends such as Pollock, de Kooning, Kline, Motherwell, Nevelson, and many others. The vibrant Newell is one of the few original abstract expressionists still active.
